Privacy policy

ERcost.com is a free tool that helps you compare ER costs and wait times. We try to collect as little personal information as possible.

What we don't collect

We don't ask for your name, date of birth, Social Security number, insurance ID, medical records, protected health information, or any health details. Please don't include that kind of information in any forms on this site.

ERcost.com does not currently accept bill uploads. If we add bill uploads later, we will add upload-specific privacy notices before collecting those files.

What we do collect

If you report a wait time or suggest a correction, we collect the facility you selected, the approximate times you entered, and any notes you added. Submissions may be moderated, filtered for spam, edited to remove personal details, or removed after publication.

If you search for a city, we may store the search text and whether it matched a supported metro area. We use this to understand which cities people want covered next.

To prevent spam, we may store a hashed IP address, which is a scrambled version of your IP address. We don't store or display your actual IP address.

Analytics

We use Google Analytics to understand how people use the site so we can make it better. This may include which pages you visit, your general location, what device you're using, and how you found us. You can learn more about how Google handles this data in their privacy policy.

Contact form

If you reach out through our contact form, we'll use your message to respond to you and to improve the site. We don't sell your information to anyone.
